How-to: Fix “Your device has failed verification and may not work properly”

  1. Restart your phone: Press and hold the power button until the power menu appears, then tap on “Restart”. This can often resolve minor software issues.
  2. Clear cache partition: Turn off your phone, then press and hold the volume down button and the power button at the same time until the phone boots into recovery mode. Use the volume buttons to navigate to “Recovery mode” and then press the power button to select it. Once you see the Android robot with an exclamation mark, press and hold the power button and tap the volume up button to access the recovery menu. Select “Wipe cache partition” using the volume buttons, then press the power button to confirm.
  3. Perform a factory reset: If the above steps don’t solve the issue, you may need to perform a factory reset. Make sure to back up your data first, as this will erase everything on your phone. Go to Settings > System > Reset options > Erase all data (factory reset) and follow the on-screen instructions.
  4. Rescue and smart Update
    • Go to the official Motorola website at https://www.motorola.com/.
    • Click on the “Support” tab located at the top of the page.
    • In the “Support” section, click on the “Software & Drivers” option.
    • Select your device from the list of available Motorola products or enter the model number “XT2013-4” in the search bar.
    • Once you have located your device, click on it to view its software and firmware updates.
    • Look for the latest firmware update and download it to your computer.
    • You can also download the Motorola Device Manager, which includes the necessary drivers and update tools for your device.
